Brentwood Home Page news reports Taking a break from bluegrass music, the Brentwood Morning Rotary Club instead offered an “Evening of Comedy” as its major fundraiser this year. Last Friday night, about 700 people left the Carolyn Campbell Auditorium at Brentwood High School with smiles on their faces.
Headliner Henry Cho was joined by Brian Bates and Rik Roberts.

Roberts brought down the house with a "perfect" imitation of The Andy Griffith Show’s Barney Fife character, made famous by Don Knotts.
Cho is a Brentwood resident known for his “clean” comedy. During his audience-participation segment, someone asked when his new TV show would be broadcast. Cho responded that the episodes are already made, however, it is such a clean, family-oriented program that it's currently "shelved" because the networks don't know what to do with it since it doesn't fit the mold of today's comedy programs.
"Henry, I think your show will be a great replacement for Two and A Half Men," immediatel shouted out 20-year-old HK Derryberry, a friend of the Rotary club who has cerebral palsy and is blind.
“The audience roared with laughter,” said HK’s mentor Jim Bradford, a Rotarian who each year helps plan the night out for the club.
“All of the profit from our show goes to support both local and international causes,” Bradford shared. The club's plans for the 2011-2012 year include presenting four $1,000 scholarships to Williamson County seniors; funding electronic classroom learning tools at multiple Williamson County Schools; giving support for members of the 101st Air Assault Unit serving in Afghanistan; and additional projects that'll be planned and implemented throughout the year.
Past club projects include purchasing a generator for a hospital in Panama; teaming with other Rotary clubs to dig wells for clean water in India; co-sponsoring the annual Christmas gifts/party for the Tennessee Baptist Children's Home; co-sponsoring the annual Appreciation Picnic for the Brentwood Fire & Rescue and Police departments; and support for numerous Williamson County charities.
