Consent agenda includes truck purchases, meeting cancellations By SUSAN LEATHERS Brentwood Home Page In what seemed like more than a coincidence given the weather forecast, the Brentwood City Commission approved the purchase of a single axle, one-ton 4x4 truck with dump bed, central hydraulic and snow plow prep package for the Public Works Department on Monday night.
The approval was one of several items included as part of the Consent Agenda the five members present unanimously passed at its final meeting of 2011. Another item on the consent agenda was the cancellation of the commission’s scheduled Dec. 12 and Dec. 19 meetings.
As expected, the city passed on second and final reading an amendment to the purchase price of the Ravenswood Farm property to the city. On Dec. 30, the city will make the second and final payment of $5,027,436.
The three items listed under new business were all related to the city’s insurance carriers and benefits. Director of human relations Mike Worsham outlined proposed changes, which include excluding working spouses from dependent care if the spouse is covered under his or her own employee-sponsored health care program and new limits on prescription drug purchases.
The commission voted 5-0 on each of the resolutions:
- Authorizing an agreement with BlueCross BlueShield of Tennessee for employee health insurance administrator for calendar year 2012 for adoption.
- Authorizing an agreement with HM Life Insurance Company for stop loss (reinsurance) coverage for adoption.
- Authorizing an agreement with Lincoln National Life Insurance Company for employee group term life and AD&D insurance for a two-year period beginning Jan. 1.
In his report, City Attorney Roger Horner informed the commission that the city would not appeal a decision by the Metro Nashville Board of Zoning Appeals to allow the Lamar billboard located in the Corky’s Ribs and BBQ restaurant parking lot to become digital.
Mayor Paul Webb invited citizens to upcoming holiday events at the Brentwood Library, including Breakfast with Santa on Saturday morning and the annual Christmas Tree lighting on Monday night. He also shared that Commissioner Betsy Crossley, who was absent, had knee replacement surgery last week and is doing “much better than expected.”
Also present were Commissioners Jill Burgin, Rhea Little, Anne Dunn and Vice Mayor Rod Freeman.
