Brentwood Home Page staff reports There’s good news on the real estate front: The number of home sold in Brentwood rose 4.7 percent last month over May from the previous year.
More encouraging news is the average and median prices increased to 4.7% and 7.9% respectively. Average days on market rose only slightly by 5 days, from 90 days in 2010 to 95 days in 2011. Condo sales doubled in May 2011 from May of 2010. The Brentwood condo communities including Brentwood Pointe and Mooreland Estates provide very affordable housing for Brentwood Schools.
“We are in good shape compared to other cities that compete for the same businesses and relocation,” said Realtor Amy B. Wyatt who provides monthly sales statistics to Brentwood Home Page. “As the job market strengthens, we will see homeownership steadily increase and a trend of college grads being able to move out on their own.”
Wyatt credited qualified local buyers and relocation traffic for steadily buying up inventory. She added that new home construction is slowly on the rise, but mainly contract to build versus spec homes.
In May, 64 single-family homes closed in the city, with a median price of $502,500. Average price was $522,344.
Last week the Williamson County Association of Realtors released countywide figures. The number of homes sold as well as median price both increased slightly. Click here for details.
