Brentwood Home Page news reports Every year Church of the Advent holds a raffle to raise money for various outreach programs within the church. This year Advent has decided to go big and raffle off a car -- a 2011 Honda Fit.
The church is selling tickets for $50 apiece or five for $200. Sales are limited to 1,000 tickets.
An iPad 2 (worth $600) and a $250 cash prize will also be given away in the raffle. The list price for the silver 2011 Honda Fit Sport Hatchback is $18,460.
In prior years, the Church of the Advent has funded a youth mission trip to North Carolina, a mission trip to South Dakota serving the Oglala Lakota Sioux community, and various local outreach programs. The church has partnered with St. Luke’s Community House to help lower-income working families and Room in the Inn to offer resources for the local homeless population.
“Our church, as a whole, feels very passionately about our mission to give our time and talents to support our community and beyond, and this fundraising project will help us meet our monetary goals to take on new outreach projects” said the Rev. Tom Hotchkiss, church rector. “We are very blessed to have a church congregation and community that support our ministries and partnerships.”
Tickets can be purchased at through the Episcopal church, located at 5501 Franklin Road, Nashville.
The raffle will take place at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 18 at the Church of the Advent between services during a special breakfast that is open to the public. Raffle recipients do not have to be present to win.
