Surprise challenge at Brentwood Baptist Brentwood Home Page news reports
On Sunday, Aug. 29, grocery lists were passed out to Brentwood Baptist members during the church's worship services. The members took the lists to their local supermarkets and filled their baskets with bags full of food, cleaning items, and personal care items. By 6 p.m. Sunday evening, 27,000 pounds of food — or 13 tons -- had been collected for Graceworks' food pantry.
Each year, church members are presented with a surprise challenge during a Sunday message to help feed the impoverished in Williamson County through this ministry partner. In the parking lot, volunteers greeted those returning to the Concord Road campus, collected their items, and loaded the bags and boxes directly onto moving trucks that would head straight to Graceworks.
On Sunday, over 1,400 Brentwood Baptist members particiated in the fourth annual Graceworks Food Drive and donated to the local, non-profit ministry. More donations were expected to be brought in throughout this week.
Graceworks provides many different types of support for qualified residents of Williamson County. For more information on Graceworks Ministries, contact Tina Edwards at 794.9055.
