Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary has announced its diverse schedule of programming for September. Included is a return to its new outdoor concert series, Music in the Meadow on Sept. 11, a home school program and training for future trail guides.

Music in the Meadow
September 11, 2010
Gates open at 5 pm; music begins at 7 pm
Cost: $75/carload of 6

Gather your friends, pack your picnic basket, chill your favorite beverage, pull out the lawn chairs and quilts, pile in the car and head to Owl's Hill for Music in the Meadow.  Our September guests are Chris Roberts, Fleming & John, Laura Donohue and Marcus Hummon.  Gates open at 5 pm for picnicking, guided nature hikes and a chance to meet the Owl's Hill owls. Music begins at 7 pm. 
Each ticket covers one car carrying up to six people. Space is limited. Tickets will not be sold at the gate. 

Tennessee Naturalist Program
Class 1: So You Want to Be a Naturalist
September 11, 2010
9 am – 1:30 pm

Margie Hunter will lead this first of 10 classes in the new Tennessee Naturalist Program, sponsored by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Tennessee State Parks, Tennessee Parks and Greenways Foundation, Center for Environmental Education at Middle Tennessee State University and Owl’s Hill Nature Sanctuary. Space is limited.

Owl’s Hill Trail Guide Training
September 15, 16, 21 and 22
9 am – 1:30 pm

The secret of the excellent educational events at Owl’s Hill is the well-trained and enthusiastic volunteer corps - people who love nature and are committed to sharing that love with others. We are currently looking for Trail Guides for weekday school and scout programs.  If you would like to join this elite group, register for the autumn Volunteer Trail Guide training.  You must be 21 to volunteer in this position. 

Home School Day: Hanging by a Thread

10-11:30 am
Cost: $7/person in advance, $10/person at the gate

Find out about the fascinating world of spiders and their amazing silk creations.  This day has been reserved for home school participants.  Register as a family or as a group.  Children must be at least 4 to attend. Prepaid reservations required. Space is limited, register early. 

Mommy and Me: Happy Birthday, Mrs. Tittlemouse
September 20, 2010
10-11:30 am
Cost: $10/child and one adult in advance; $15/child and one adult at the gate

Beatrix Potter’s delightful story of Mrs. Tittlemouse and her messy house comes alive in this charming Mommy and Me program. Designed for children age 3 through second grade, the morning includes a visit to the observation bee hive and a pond prowl, as well as a reading of the story. 

Butterfly Day

10 am – noon
Cost: $7/person in advance; $10/person at the gate
