Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood High's boys and girls tennis teams swept University School in a match at Wildwood last Wednesday, warming up for a return to district play this week.
The defending state champion Bruins boys team plays at Centennial Monday, and both teams travel to Franklin on Tuesday. The boys also visit Independence on Wednesday and host Brentwood Academy in a non-district match Thursday, when the girls play at Independence.
Ryan Satterfield kept the BHS boys perfect on the day against USN by winning a tie-breaker 10-8 over USN's Michael Stephanides for a 9-8 victory at No. 3 singles.
Alex Howard won 8-2 at No. 1 over Michael King, Drake Hernandez triumphed 8-3 at No. 2 over Alex Metzman, and Evan Borowski scored an 8-0 shutout over Gary Faulkon at No. 4.
Michael Arguello and Danny Hester both recorded 8-5 decisions at No. 5 and 6.
Howard/Hernandez, Arguello/Will Jayne and Mullenger/Von Tagen teamed up for a doubles sweep as well.
In the girls match, Helen Hosse took an 8-3 victory at No. 1 singles over Kate Johnston. No. 2 Nisha Bhuva defeated Thalia Spinrad and No. 3 Emily Batiste beat Katie Awh, both with 8-5 sets.
Joyce Kang, Meg Howard and Virginia Therault all won at No. 4-6 singles.
The No. 1 doubles team of Bhuva/Batiste and No. 3 Kang/Mary Margaret Lancaster also notched victories. USN's Spinrad/Awh won No. 2 doubles over Lauren Levy/Olivia Sterling 8-6.
