RHS girls, BHS boys barely finish second Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood junior Paul Stuart won the Region 6-AAA boys cross country race and advances into the state meet, while the Ravenwood girls team tied for the championship.
Independence was awarded the region title over the Lady Raptors, however, because their sixth runner had a faster finish in Thursday's race.
The BHS boys team also narrowly missed out on the region crown, only one point away from first-place Independence.
And Brentwood freshman Elizabeth Scott (20:18.41) was second behind girls winner Rachel Wooten of Franklin (19:54.68).
The Lady Bruins and the RHS boys team both were third, also qualifying for the state meet Saturday, Nov. 6 on the same course, at the Steeplechase, Percy Warner Park.
