Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood High School football fans are one day closer to the start of the season after the opening game has been moved up to a Thursday night kickoff.
The Bruins' season-opener at Cookeville High was moved to Aug. 18 from Aug. 19 because the game has the opportunity to be the Thursday Night Lights game of the week on local television, BHS athletic director Ronnie Seigenthaler said.
Brentwood, the three-time defending District 11-AAA champion, will hold its home opener the following week on Friday, Aug. 26, against 6A state runner-up Smyrna.
BHS appeared on WXUP-Channel 30's TNL game against Oakland last season.
All TSSAA high school sports teams are in a dead period this week and next week. Football teams can work out in shorts starting July 11, but cannot suit up in full pads until Aug. 1.
