Brown Dog Foundation’s sixth annual “We Salute the Animals” Wine Dinner is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 20 at 6 p.m. The dinner and auction is being hosted this year by The Sound Kitchen, recording studio and event space in Franklin.

The dinner menu was created by Jane Marcum, with input from the Master Chef at Two Michelin Restaurant, etoile, located at Domaine-Chandon in Napa Valley.  Wines for the dinner are provided by Domaine-Chandon, one of Napa Valley’s prize wineries. The five-course dinner will include such delicacies as oysters provided by Sunset Grille, a dove confit on roasted beet salad, and a Shire Gate Farms’ sirloin pot pie.  A vegetarian option is also available.

Franklin High School’s culinary department will provide food service for the evening, while several Brown Dog Foundation volunteers will provide beverage and valet service.  Celebrity Limousine will offer complimentary car service to ensure all who attend arrive home as safely as they left.

The evening will be captured on canvas by local artist Elaine Allen and will be emceed by Eric Golbach, most noted for his work with Craig Chaquico(Jefferson Starship/Starship/solo), The WWE ("No Mercy 2007" theme song), Royal Blood, The Aqüa Nëts and The Pocket Protectors.

Guests are asked to dress “fashion-forward” and come prepared to shop an exciting silent and live auction.  Tickets cost $125/person.  They may be purchased at the Foundation’s website, www.browndogfoundation.org/wine-dinner11. Or reservations and payment arrangements may be made by calling Carol Smock at 615-429-6184.

Brentwood Home Page has stepped up as the exclusive media Sponsor this year.  Major sponsors of the event this year include Pet Tao Pet Food, based in Franklin; The Farm at Natchez Trace pet boarding facility in Franklin; The Premiere Event; Heard Law Group; Horizon Wine & Spirits; and Red Dog Wine & Spirits of Franklin.

Brown Dog Foundation secured Williamson County native Jane (Colley) Marcum and music industry friend Valerie Blonder to co-chair the event.  Committee members include Elaine Heard of Heard Law Group (who served as Board Liaison); Gail Childress of Flood Bumstead McCready & McCarthy; Pamela Garrett; Sunna Lee of Cracker Barrell Corporate; Mike Jones of Guardian Angel Car Service; and Carol Smock, founder of Brown Dog Foundation.

Brown Dog Foundation is a Tennessee-based 501c3 non-profit dedicated to ending the economic euthanasia of family pets.  As families struggle to keep their home and utilities on, not to mention food on the table and medical care for their children, the family pet often goes without proper healthcare.

Since formation in 2006, the Foundation has saved the lives of 154 family pets across the United States, with their heaviest concentration of fundraising and giving located here in Middle Tennessee.  The wine dinner is one of two major annual fundraising events hosted by the Foundation’s Board of Directors.
