Brentwood Home Page news reports Three Brentwood-area teachers were honored as Williamson County’s Teachers of the Year during a ceremony and reception Tuesday at the Williamson County Schools central office in Franklin.
Scales Elementary’s Melissa Skinner was named Elementary Teacher of the Year. At the middle school level, Sandra Keown of Sunset was named Teacher of the Year, and at the high school level, Mark Baker of Brentwood was chosen for the top honor.
Every school in the district selects a teacher to be recognized, and from these, the district selected a system-wide Teacher of the Year at the elementary, middle and high school levels.
Other teachers honored at the elementary level include Jennifer Havens, Allendale; Nancy Klausen-Mash, Bethesda; Regina Rathbone, Chapman’s Retreat; Kim Richey, College Grove; Lori Crump, Crockett; Amanda Hawk, Edmondson; Perry Higgins, Fairview; Nancy Peluso, Grassland; Jennifer Schwartz, Heritage; Angela Mosely, Hillsboro; Tammy Hayes, Hunters Bend; Jane Neu, Kenrose; Cecile Gentry, Lipscomb; Caroline Croteau, Longview; Donovan Caballero, Nolensville; Carol Cortez, Oak View; Kelli Myers, Pearre Creek; Beverly Purvis, Pinewood; Missy Eskew, Sunset; Kristen Hullett, Trinity; Suzy Gore, Walnut Grove; Teresa Barnhill, Westwood; and Leslea Hood, Winstead.
Teachers honored at the middle school level include Shannon Meadows, Brentwood; Larry Adams, Fairview; Sharon Brasher, Grassland; Caitlin Parham, Heritage; Elizabeth Pittsley, Hillsboro; Amber Hastings, Page; Katie Jones, Spring Station; and Carol Doidge, Woodland.
At the high school level, teachers recognized include David Hale, Centennial; Jeff Myers, Fairview; Leigh Tansey, Franklin; Lori Freeman, Independence; Kate Hickey, Middle College; Sara Harvey, Page; and Amanda Muniz, Ravenwood.
The system-wide Teachers of the Year were selected by committees with membership guidelines established by the State. They will be eligible to receive regional honors which will be announced in the spring. If they are selected in the region, they will be eligible for statewide honors. The State’s Teachers of the Year will be announced in the fall.
