Raptors, Lady Bruins also make finals of holiday tourneys

Brentwood High held Kentucky signee Alex Poythress to nine points to give Northeast its first loss, and Ravenwood won in overtime over Riverdale to make Friday's boys finals of two different holiday tournaments.

Brentwood 57, Northeast 51, boys

Point guard Jack Montague, headed to Yale next season, scored 21 to lead the Bruins (12-4) past previously undefeated Northeast in the Above the Rim tourney at Hickman County.

Asa Duvall scored 13 points and Andy Schumpert added 11 including a trio of 3-pointers for BHS in Thursday's semifinals. Montague and Duvall had the other 3s for the Brentwood.

Poythress, averaging nearly 30 points a game, didn't reach double figures as BHS outscored Northeast (14-1) 22-12 in the final quarter. Jaylen Baker had 15 and Myron Poydras 13 including three trey.

Brentwood takes a six-game win streak into Friday's 8:30 p.m. championship game against defending Class AA state champion Liberty Tech in Centerville, Tenn. On Wednesday the Bruins beat last year's Class A state champion Lake County.

Ravenwood 63, Riverdale 55, boys

Devin Robinson had 23 points and Andy Moore scored 22 as the Raptors (11-1) withstood a challenge from Blackman in overtime at the Beech tournament.

Moore hit 3-pointers, while Joey Barnes added 10 points for Ravenwood in Thursday's semifinal at the Beech gym in Hendersonville.

The Raptors scored eight points in OT and held the Warriors (8-5) scoreless after Tomaz Gray tied the game on free throws with no time left in regulation.

Ravenwood will go for its seventh consecutive victory in Friday's 8:30 p.m. finals against East Literature, a 71-62 winner over Blackman.

Brentwood 53, Sparkman 44, girls

Paige Parker poured in 18 points and hit a pair of 3-pointers, while Sara Jarnagin scored 16 to help send the Lady Bruins into the Beech tournament finals.

BHS will play in the 7 p.m. championship game against Arlington at the Beech gym in Hendersonville. 

Brentwood Academy 46, Gallatin 39, girls

Jai Murphy led the Lady Eagles (7-6) with 15 points with a victory over the Lady Wave in the Franklin Road Academy tournament. BA was scheduled to play Rossview at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Ravenwood 74, Lancaster Christian 5, girls

Lexi McKay scored 13 points and Logan Hodskins and Brandi Devore added 12 apiece in the Lady Raptors' romp in the Trousdale County tourney in Hartville, Tenn. Twelve different players scored for RHS (8-4), which led 32-3 after a quarter and was scheduled to play St. Cecilia at 1 p.m. Friday.
