Brentwood Home Page news reports The Brentwood Police Department encourages residents to adhere to some basic crime prevention measures this summer.
• Make sure that all windows and doors are secure and your alarm is armed before leaving home.
• When at home alone, day or night, set your perimeter alarm as a minimum security measure. If you are working in your yard, keep your doors closed and locked.
• Utilize exterior and interior lighting, especially if you are going on vacation. Notify a trusted neighbor of your absence and ask them to collect your mail, newspaper, and other deliveries.
• When having repairs of any kind performed at your home, ensure that the company is reputable. Don’t leave workers in your home alone, and log the names of the workers who were at your home.
• Photograph or video all valuable jewelry, electronics and flatware. Record all serial numbers and store in a safe place.
• When leaving your vehicle unattended place all valuables out of sight and lock your doors. Remove add-on electronic devices such as GPS, video players, laptops, cameras, and cell phones. Never leave a purse or wallet in your vehicle – even if it is hidden and your vehicle is locked.
• When you are away from home, keep personal belongings with you or in a secured locker and keep the key with you at all times. Keep your vehicle keys on your person or store them in a locked locker.
• Report any suspicious or abnormal activity to the Brentwood Police Department immediately. An alert citizen can and will make a difference in preventing crime and catching criminals. By working together we can make Brentwood a safer place.
