Sister neighborhoods appeal to families

Much has changed since Chuck Mauro moved to the Estates of Bonbrook 11 years ago. But the appeal of this upscale subdivision in east Brentwood remains as strong as ever.

“There were only about a dozen homes when I came here,” says Mauro, president of the Bonbrook Home Owner’s Association. “We liked this area because we felt like this was the quiet side of town. Of course, Concord Road has gotten pretty busy these days, but we’re set back far enough that it’s very peaceful and there’s not much traffic in our neighborhood.”

Still, Bonbrook’s location off Concord Road offers great convenience, with ready access to major interstates, shopping and schools.

“The location is great going to the airport, about 20 minutes away,” says Elizabeth Starkey, who lives in Bonbrook on Concord and is a Realtor with Realty Trust Residential. “We have excellent access to I-24 through Nolensville and I-840. We’re about six minutes to I-65 and 15 minutes to Cool Springs.”

Developed by John Wieland Homes beginning around 2000, the neighborhood actually comprises two separate sections – the Estates of Bonbrook and Bonbrook on Concord. They are connected by Brunswick Drive. According to realtracs.com, five homes are currently listed in the subdivision, ranging in price from $449,000-$764,000.

“It’s a wonderful family community,” Mauro says. “We have a lot of young executives with kids, many of which were attracted to the good schools.”

Interestingly enough, Bonbrook on Concord is zoned for Crockett Elementary, Woodland Middle and Ravenwood High School, while the Estates of Bonbrook is zoned for Edmondson Elementary, Brentwood Middle and Brentwood High.

Residents also enjoy 42 acres of common space, with a park and pavilion, picnic area, playground, ball field, pond and walking trail. And Mauro says there are a number of neighborhood gatherings, including a Halloween parade and party, a Christmas party with Santa, and a ladies luncheon group.

“The homes are lovely, with big open lots and ample square footage,” Mauro says. “And people are very friendly. I’ve had a lot of the same neighbors since I’ve been here.”
