Ravenwood host games Tuesday, BA on the road

Brentwood High's basketball teams both remain undefeated, and Ravenwood's teams are only once-beaten entering Tuesday's home double-header against Hunters Lane.

Brentwood Academy girls went 2-2 in a week that saw them face some stiff competition in the tough Bradley Central tournament. The Eagles boys team got their first win and will welcome the return of football player Weldon Garlington for two road double-headers this week.

Brentwood: The Bruins teams, who host Battle Ground Academy on Saturday, swept Beech on the road last Tuesday and then each won both games in the Columbia Thanksgiving Tournament.

Brentwood (5-0) edged the Clarksville Northeast boys 46-45 in Columbia Saturday behind 16 points from Jack Montague and 10 from James Cox. Cox poured in 22 and Montague had 18 in Friday's 73-43 rout of BGA (1-3).

The Bruins also won 55-52 at Beech (0-3) last week behind 16 points from Will Joiner, a Marquette golf signee, and 13 from Montague.

Kyla Kerstetter scored 21 for the Lady Bruins in Saturday's 71-35 victory over tournament host Columbia (1-5) and 32 in Friday's 66-36 defeat of Northeast (0-3).  Schumaker scored 16 and Paige Hood had 10 against the Lady Lions, while Sara Jarangin added 10 against Northeast.

The Lady Bruins also toppled 9-AAA power Beech (1-2) 47-32 on the road Tuesday, with Kerstetter netting 27 points.

Ravenwood: The Lady Raptors (4-1) also rolled up two victories at the Thanksgiving tournament, 60-50 Saturday over host Columbia (1-5) and 50-44 Friday over Northeast (0-3). Erin Lauderdale scored 33 against the Lady Lions and 24 against Northeast, while Logan Hodskins hit double figures with 12 Friday.

The Ravenwood girls dropped their first loss, 56-50 in overtime, at Overton (3-1) last Tuesday. Jayne Rice led the Lady Raptors with 16 points and Lauderdale had 13.

The RHS boys outlasted Overton (1-1) in their only game last week 65-64. Evan Forhetz scored 18 points the the Raptors hit 10 of 13 fourth-quarter free throws. Devin Robinson (13 points), Riley Stoner (12) and Robert Veal (11) also hit double figures.

Tuesday's games at RHS start at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m..

Brentwood Academy: The Lady Eagles (3-3) won their first game at the Bradley Central tournament 45-37 over Knoxville Bearden on Friday, but lost 61-48 to the tourney hosts Saturday and 44-37 to Siegel (6-1) on Sunday.

Samford signee Taylor Reece scored 27 and Mendy Lovelady had 10 against Bearden. Hailey Pierson led BA with 14 and Reece added 10 in the loss to Bradley Central, while Lovelady scored 11 in the defeat to Siegel.

The Lady Eagles, whose only previous loss was to BHS, did pound University School of Nashville (1-3) 65-47 last Tuesday. Reece scored 28 points, Lovelady 16, Pierson 15 and Taylor McFarland 11.

The BA boys (1-2), still playing without top returning scorer Garlington, also rolled past previously unbeaten USN (3-1), 72-48. The Eagles' leading scorers were Asa Duvall (15), Caleb Tannehill (12), Danny McGrath (11) and Josh Lester (10).

Brentwood Academy has road double-headers at Ezell-Harding at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and at Blackman at Friday. The BA boys teams also visits Jackson Christian at 3 p.m. Saturday.
