Brentwood Home Page news reports Ravenwood, the defending state champion, and Brentwood, this year's GNASH regular-season champ, both made the semifinals of the Predators Cup high school hockey tournament Friday.
Winners will advance into Sunday's championship on the ice at Bridgestone Arena, at 4:45 p.m., following the Predators' 2 p.m. NHL game against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
The Bruins will play Father Ryan in the first semifinal at 6:40 p.m. Friday at A-Game in Cool Springs.
The Raptors take on Pope John Paul II at 8:30 p.m., also at A-Game.

Brentwood finished first in pool play with 12 points, going 4-0 in the tournament capped off by Wednesday’s 7-4 win over Montgomery Bell Academy.
JPII, Ravenwood and Father Ryan all tied with nine points. Pope John Paul II won the tiebreaker for the second seed with head-to-head wins over Ryan and RHS.
Ravenwood lost to the Golden Knights 2-1 on Wednesday, the Raptors’ only loss in four games in pool play of the eight-team tournament.
The Raptors took the third seed on the third tie-breaker -- goal differential, where RHS had an 8-7 advantage over Ryan. The Irish, fifth in the regular season, made the Final Four with a 5-0 victory over Independence-Page on Wednesday.
Against MBA, Brentwood's Andrew Rittler had two goals and three assists, and Dominick Granda scored a goal and tallied three assists.
BHS went up 3-0 in the first period on goals by Nicholas Thornber, Rittler and Granda, and Joseph Feeney added another for the Bruins. The Big Red came back to tie it 4-4, however, before Tyler Richardson put Brentwood back on top with 5:03 left.
Rittler added his second goal at 2:57, and Hunter Wilhote scored the final time with 25 seconds remaining.
Against Pope John Paul II, Ravenwood took a 1-0 lead on Caleb Muncie’s goal, with assists from Harry Sullivan IV and Robert Janasek. But the Knights scored later in the first period, and scored on the power play in the final period for the win. |
