By KELLY GILFILLAN Brentwood Home Page Brentwood High School and Ravenwood High School’s girls soccer teams played the final matches of the public versus private Adidas Cup that has been ongoing since last Wednesday. Brentwood walked away with the best record at 4-1. Ravenwood came in second with their record of 2-0-2.
Brentwood took on Battle Ground Academy at the BGA complex on Monday night. The Wildcats took the lead in the first half when Cara Ledman scored the first goal of the anything.
Brentwood’s Audrey Howard crossed the ball from the right side and Carly Overmyer caught the rebound off the goalie and put it in the back of the net to tie it up. The score would remain tied at halftime.
Ledman would score again early in the second half. The Wildcats and Bruins battled it out in the middle but kept the goalies on both ends busy. With 17:01 left on the clock, Audrey Howard, who had the most shots on goal for the night, had a breakaway and scored on the run.
Audrey Howard was in the mix again on the Lady Bruins’ third goal when she crossed the ball under pressure. Meg Howard had an amazing header goal for the win with eight minutes left on the clock. The Lady Bruins held on for the win under strong pressure from BGA.
Ravenwood also played Monday night against Christ Presbryterian Academy. Zero zero at half at CPA’s complex. Lady Raptor Sarah Jenner was the first to strike early in the second half.
The Lady Raptors retained control of the game but CPA did manage to create some chances with multiple corner kicks late in game.
The final of the game was a win for RHS 1-0.
The soccer version of the Battle of the Woods will occur Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Ravenwood home field. This is a District 11-AAA matchup that is a season changer for both teams.
