Bruins' Granda MVP, Raptors' Prefanis scores All-Star winner Brentwood Home Page news reports Regular-season champ and top seed Brentwood High School takes on No. 2 seed Pope John Paul II at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday night, at the Sportsplex in the Predators Cup.
The Bruins are coming off Monday's snow-delayed victory over Hendersonville, 7-0, with Barry Jarnagin the shutout goalie (12 saves). Dominick Granda and Elmore Garrett each scored two goals and Andrew Rittler had three assists.
Ravenwood also takes the ice at the Sportplex on Wednesday at 8:10 p.m., against Montgomery Bell Academy. Both BHS and third-seeded RHS are 2-0 in pool play with two games remaining.
Brentwood's Granda was recently named MVP of the All-Star game for the Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey (GNASH) league. Ravenwood's Corbin Pefanis scored the winning goal for the South in the shootout win Feb. 5.
Granda had two goals and two assists for the South in the game at Bridgestone Arena, played following the Predators' 3-0 win over the Red Wings.
The Bruins' A.J. Rittler scored two goals to tie it after the North went ahead 2-0. Granda's two goals then tied it 5-5 at the end of regulation.
Brentwood's last round-robin game in the Predators Cup is 6:40 p.m. Feb. 23 vs. MBA at A-Game. The Raptors will play JPII at 8:10 p.m. Feb. 23, at A-Game.
The Raptors won 4-0 over Independence-Page on Friday, behind two goals from Pefanis and the shutout from Ryley Hynes (5 saves).
The Preds Cup semifinals are at 7:05 and 8:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, at Centennial Sportsplex. The state tournament championship will be played at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 27, at Bridgestone Arena.
