Snow cancelled the original Brentwood High School Parent Summit on Jan. 30, but organizers are sure the second time will be charmed.  It is now scheduled to be held Saturday and Belmont University President Dr. Robert Fisher remains the keynote speaker.  Fisher’s address will be centered around success through relationships based on his new book, Life is a Gift.
The summit, designed for parents of incoming high school freshmen – the Class of 2014, is entitled Begin With the End in Mind. Registration opens at noon. The summit runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. in Brentwood’s Campbell Center.

Organizers hope the event will give parents information they need to empower their rising freshman to be successful in planning and experiencing high school. The program will include an overview of the 9th grade curriculum, a chance to learn about classroom/academic expectations, preview textbooks, and ask questions of Brentwood’s 9th grade teachers.

At the High School Expo being held in conjunction with the summit, parents can meet representatives from each of the major areas of school life. There will be display tables where you can get more information on academics, arts and music, athletics and the PTO. Guided tours of the school will also be available.

The Williamson County school board recently approved open zoning to Brentwood to help alleviate overcrowding at Ravenwood High. Any parents of incoming ninth graders considering making the move is welcome to attend.
