BHS hockey team receives Sports Council award

The Brentwood High School Varsity Hockey team was awarded the Comcast Spotlight Champion Award by the Nashville Sports Council.

The award ceremony was held at the Bridgestone Arena during the 13th Annual Comcast Spotlight Sports Speakers Series Predators Faceoff Event.

Team seniors Tanner Elmore, Chris Marti, Andrew Falls, and Shane Liddell, as well as juniors Daiven Chawan, Logan Paterna and B.J. Jarnagin, were invited to represent the team at the ceremony.  Coaches Chris Morris and Brian Richardson were also in attendance.

The players and coaches were treated to dinner, met the Predators players, watched a practice, and participated in a question/answer session with the Preds players.

Each attendee received two complimentary tickets to an upcoming Predators game, and the team received $500 to help reduce team fees.  This is the second year that the Brentwood High Hockey team has received this award.

The Bruins, defending GNASH (Greater Nashville Area Scholastic Hockey) league champions last year, opened the season on Bridgestone ice on Saturday. The BHS team lost to Pope John Paul II 7-1 and played their second game Wednesday night against MBA at Centennial Sportsplex.
