Brentwood girls won by 31 points over Ravenwood, and the BHS boys were runner-up to Independence by only 16 points in the Battle of Williamson County track and field championships.

The county event, held at Battle Ground Academy, was reduced to one day on Tuesday following a rainout on Monday.

Thrower Amber Suzius was the Lady Bruins’ only individual double-winner, with the longest distances in both the shot put and discus. Her discus toss was 10 yards, five inches better than her runner-up teammate Amy Nelson.

Brentwood's Steve Wade won both the shot put and discus at the Battle of Williamson County championship meet.

Brentwood’s Brittany Alexander outran Ravenwood’s Allie Arnette to win the 800, while Emily Stack was third for BHS.

The Lady Bruins won two relays and finished second in the 4x200. Holly Van Grinsven, Emma Oothout, Kelly Bickel and Anna Gildemeister took first in the 4x400, while Van Grinsven, Bickel, Emily Thornton and Elizabeth Scott won the 4x800.

Sarah Hampton-Flowers was second in the 300 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles for BHS.

Abby Vorhaus also was runner-up in the pole vault for Brentwood, and the Lady Bruins had another third-place finish from Mary Schwartz in the 200.

Erika Peoples captured both long-distance races for RHS, winning the 1600 and 3200, while Lady Bruins freshman Scott was third in the longest event.

Ravenwood’s Halie Lemasters won the 400 by just .29 of a second over Brentwood’s Oothout.

The Lady Raptors were second in the 4x100 and the 4x800 relays. RHS also had a third-place from Kennedie Leath in the 100-meter dash, Maddie Lindley in the 300 hurdles, and Kacey Brown in the triple jump. Currey-Ingram’s Angie Haynes high-jumped to second place.

Wade leads Brentwood with double victory in throwing events

Senior Steve Wade also won both throwing events for Brentwood, besting his nearest competitor by 12 feet, 4 inches in the shot and 15-9 in the discus. Ravenwood’s Cameron Brown was runner-up in the shot put, third in the discus throw.

Brentwood sophomore Eric Hoff hurdled his way to first place in the 110-meter event and second place in the 300. Nick Coffey also placed third in the 110 hurdles for the Bruins.

Nathan Thomas won the 3200-meter run, and Paul Stuart and Thomas were 2-3 in the 1600.

Brentwood junior James Lazas triumphed in the triple jump. The Bruins also nipped Centennial by .05 of a second to win the 4x200 race, with the team of Patrick Kellett, Ty Osman, James Laza and Andrew Wilson.

Grant Seckman added a third place for the Bruins in the 800, and the BHS 4x100, 4x400 and 4x800 relays also were third.

The Raptors’ Samuel Hagens leaped 20 feet, 11 inches in the long jump for first place, plus took third in the high jump.

Ravenwood’s Geoff Nelson was fastest in the 400 to win a county title.Here are the team results, top three in each event and other BHS and RHS competitors who scored points for their team:
