Thanksgiving week busy for Bruins & RHS, BA, BHS girls
Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood High School's basketball teams both take 2-0 records into a busy week, with a trip to Beech on Tuesday and games at the Thanksgiving Rotary Classic in Columbia during the weekend.
BHS swept host Brentwood Academy in a Hall of Fame double-header on Thursday.
Kyla Kerstetter scored 27 points to lead the Lady Bruins to a 62-52 victory over BA, and Natalie Schumaker chipped in with 15.
Samford signee Taylor Reece had 19 points and a 3-pointer, and Taylor McFarland scored 16 and hit three 3-pointers for BA (1-1). The Lady Eagles made seven 3s in the game.
Cody Shelton poured in 20 points and James Cox added 12 as the Bruins boys team edged the Eagles 48-41. BA (0-2), playing without top returning scorer Weldon Garlington due to football playoffs, got 10 points from Danny McGrath.
BHS this week: After the Tuesday double-header at Beech, the Bruins play in Columbia against BGA at 3 p.m. Friday and Northeast at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. The Lady Bruins' games are at 4:30 p.m. Friday against Northeast and at 6 p.m. Saturday against Columbia.
The next home games for BHS are Dec. 4 against BGA.
BA this week: BA plays host to University School of Nashville at 6:30 p.m. (girls) and 8 p.m. (boys) on Tuesday. The Lady Eagles also travel to Cleveland, Tenn., for the Bradley Central Tournament Nov. 26-28, opening against Bearden on Friday.
RHS this week: Ravenwood visits Overton at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys) on Tuesday. The Lady Raptors also play in the Columbia Thanksgiving event, against the host Lady Lions at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Northeast at 3 p.m. Saturday.
The Raptors' boys team next plays Nov. 30 in a home double-header with Hunters Lane at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:30 p.m. (boys)
