Brentwood Home Page news reports Brentwood’s baseball team lost 7-5 to Franklin in the losers bracket final Tuesday night, eliminating the Bruins from the District 11-AAA tournament.
Franklin moved into the championship game later last night, but lost 13-9 to top-seeded and tournament host Independence. Both the Rebels and Eagles advance into next week's regionals.
BHS fell behind the Rebels in the top of the first inning 3-0, but did pull within 3-2 in the third. Franklin, however, scored three more runs in the fifth and added an insurance run in the sixth.
The Bruins managed to rally for three runs in the bottom of the sixth but it was too little, too late.
Sophomore Cody Shelton (6-1) suffered his first loss. The Bruins were plagued by five errors, while Franklin played mistake-free defense.
Brentwood senior Tyson Ashcraft hit a home run in the losing effort.
Jake Little homered for the Rebels, and pitcher Brandon Robertson (5-2) earned the victory.
In the championship game, Adam Lee homered for the Eagles and Wes Todd (4-2) notched the win for IHS.
