NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition will benefit from two special events this month planned in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The coalition's third annual “The Dance” will be held on Oct. 20 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation Fleming Center in Nashville. And the TBCC is teaming up with Panera Bread to promote its Pink Ribbon Bagel campaign.

Nashville entertainer Irlene Mandrell will serve as the honorary chair for this year's "Dance," a unique event where instructors from DanceWorld studios will provide lessons of popular dances such as the Rumba, Waltz, Tango and Swing.  The Usual Suspects Orchestra will supply the musical accompaniment to the dance instruction. The benefit comes complete with a dinner catered by RSVP Catering.

There are still tickets available for the Oct. 20 benefit which begins at 6 p.m.  Individual tickets are for sale for $100 each.  A table of 10 can be bought for $1,000.  Please call 615-377-8777 or visit www.tbcc.org to purchase tickets and learn more about the event. Corporate sponsors are Kroger, St. Thomas Health Services Centers for Breast Health, Vanderbilt Ingram Cancer Center and the Bridgestone/Firestone Trust Fund.

Throughout October, all of Panera's Middle Tennessee locations, including its Shoppes at Brentwood Hills and Cool Springs locations, will feature a special Pink Ribbon Bagel. Panera will donate 10 cents for each ribbon-shaped bagel it sells, and $1 for each baker's dozen sold.

In addition, TBCC reps will be at each Panera location on Oct. 12th to talk with customers about breast cancer prevention and detection and the services the coalition offers.

All funds raised through the two fundraisers stay right here in Tennessee.  One of the many programs supported is the Emergency Access Fund (EAF). The EAF pays necessities such as rent, mortgage payments, utilities and insurance premiums of individuals who have become financially burdened due to the inability to work while in treatment.  Since its inception, this EAF has helped more than 400 people undergoing breast cancer treatment. The TBCC also funds a community grant program through which we subsidize educational programming, screening and support programs.

The mission of TBCC is to be the foremost advocate and provider for Tennesseans facing breast cancer through individual assistance, education, research and legislative action. The TBCC has raised over $1.85 million to help individuals effected by breast cancer since its inception in 1995.  For more information about the events and the coalition, visit www.tbcc.org.
