Who's behind those drums? Members of the RHS marching band's percussion section.

It was “Color Day” at the Ravenwood Band Camp Tuesday. Members of the 110-member high school marching band wore different color T-shirts according to the instrument they played. Monday was Tie-Dye Day; Wednesday is Blue & Pink (boys wear blue, girls wear pink; get it?). Thursday is Ghetto Day and Friday is RHS Spirit Day.

That’s the fun part of the grueling week of training. While the football team may have two-a-days, the band members are on the RHS parking lot or in the band room from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. taking only dinner breaks. They are learning both the choreography for this year’s show and the music – an original piece written specifically for the band titled, The Jester’s Deception.

You can bet that on Aug. 27, when the Raptors’ football team takes on Goodpasture, the Marching Raptors will be just as prepared to take the home field.
