By SUSAN LEATHERS Brentwood Home Page news reports More al fresco dining could be coming to town if the Brentwood Planning Commission approves two recommendations at its meeting tonight.
H. Michael Hindman Architects has requested approval of minor site plan revisions for the Peartree Village shopping center, located at the intersection of Church Street and Franklin Road. First Watch Daytime Café, a new restaurant taking over half of the former Hollywood Video space, proposes the additional of a seasonal outside patio/sidewalk area with room for four tables.
Meanwhile across Franklin Road, Barge Cauthen & Associates has requested approval of a revised site plan for the H.G. Hills Shopping Center. That plan includes enlarging the patio area in front of Sweet CeCes and Starbucks. The existing patio is 199 square feet. The new area will be 501 square feet.
Also at the Hill Center, the plan calls for the addition of sidewalks along the east side of the entrance drive from Williamsburg Road. The sidewalk will extend to the first parking bay in front of REI; new ramps and sidewalk connecting the existing sidewalk on Franklin Road into the Center, including additional seating areas and landscaping along the sidewalk; elimination of two parking spaces to accommodate the new patio area; and replacement of the parking spaces lost at the rear of REI and Pear Tree Avenue. These spaces will to be used for employee parking.
Walter Amond will join the commission as its newest member, replacing Everett Cowan who recently resigned. Amond’s appointment was announced at the April 25 Brentwood City Commission meeting.
Tonight’s meeting will open with a tribute to retiring city commissioners Joe Reagan and Joe Sweeney.
The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Brentwood Municipal Building, 5211 Maryland Way. Click here to see the full agenda. |
