Rhonda Booker Long, Williamson County Schools’ adult education supervisor, has done something only 13 others in her position have done in the state of Tennessee. 
 

After recently completing an intensive two-year training program, Booker Long became a certified Manager in program improvement (CMPI).  This national certification is the first of its kind in the adult education and literacy field and signifies the participant as a member of an elite group of professional managers.
 

"By participating in the CMPI program, I learned strategies to improve student retention and program completion rates," Booker Long said. “It is imperative that we continue to strive to improve our professional skills so we may continue to deliver quality programs to meet the needs of our adult learners."
 

To earn this prestigious distinction, Tennessee's certified managers completed an intensive 187 hours of workshops, online courses, webcasts, interim activities and learning projects during the Leadership Excellence Academies developed by the National Education Professional Development Consortium  (NAEPDC) and ProLiteracy.
