BrentWord Communications LLC was launched in 2009 by then-owners Susan Leathers and Kelly Gilfillan, who began to publish a hyper-local daily online newspaper called Brentwood Home Page.
BHP quickly became THE “go to place for everything Brentwood” and is so popular it has been followed since 2012 by the launches of Franklin Home Page, Nolensville Home Page, and Spring Hill Home Page. Williamson County finds its news on a local level on these four sites as well as county news from the school system and county commission.
Each site focuses on hyper-local coverage of hard news, arts and entertainment, community, features, real estate, schools, and sports. Well-liked weekly columnists add to the local flavor of the sites. The BC “family” of
news sites has amassed more than 15 million page views in their brief existences.
Popular weekly real estate sections in the Home Pages of Brentwood, Franklin, Nolensville, and Spring Hill include various editorial features, Showcase Homes and regular accounts of real estate sales in each.
Annual special sections published by BrentWord Communications attract targeted audiences throughout the year. They include the area’s most comprehensive Prep Football Focus sections, Be Healthy Guides, Holiday Shopping Guides and Senior Salutes.
BrentWord Communications has expanded to offer unique, reasonably priced products designed to reach one of Middle Tennessee’s most desired demographic groups – the affluent and highly educated residents and workers of Williamson County. BC also has broadened its available small business marketing strategies to specifically focus on
content marketing, graphic design services, and social media.
The digital news company underwent a 2014 reorganization and expansion when the veteran newswoman Leathers stepped aside to pursue different interests and Gilfillan assumed the titles of CEO and Executive Editor. Gilfillan is a Brentwood native whose diverse resume includes leadership positions in the fields of sales and marketing, including media and healthcare. Gilfillan is an alumni of the Leadership Franklin Class of 2014 and the Transit Citizens Leadership Academy. She enjoys serving her community in organizations such as Williamson Inc and the Williamson County Anti-Drug Coalition.
Almost from the start, BrentWord Communications’ voluntary Advisory Board has helped direct the company’s amazing success. Members are Arnelle Adcock, partner, Clover Management Group; Randy Lee, certified financial planner, TrustCore; Marshall S. Martin, president, Stratasan; Devin McClendon, president, NAI Nashville; Debra T. Phillips, assistant U.S. Attorney-Middle Tennessee District.; Dottie Pope, retired pharmacist and community volunteer.
