Military, spouses, widows and widowers qualify for discount

Brentwood Home Page news reports

AARP is offering a free Driver’s Education class for the month of November for all military veterans and their spouses, widows and widowers.

They do not have to be a member of AARP, but would have to provide some type of military ID.

By taking this class, anyone 55 years of age, or older, can get a discount on their car insurance, as mandated by Tennessee codes. If the husband and wife take the course, they would receive the discount on two cars in the family.

AARP driver’s ed instructor Bob Soriano’s next class is at the Brentwood Library on Concord Road, and it an eight-hour course at 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, and 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., on Thursday, Nov. 10.  Bring a pen/pencil, a valid Tennessee driver's license, and the military ID.

To register, call the Brentwood Library at 615-371-0090, ext. 851. A driver needs to attend both sessions to get the credit.

If you don’t qualify for the military free class, AARP members may take the course for a cost of $12 and non-members for $14.
