With a new coach and a new year ahead of them, the 2010 Brentwood Academy Cheerleaders are ready to cheer on the Eagles -- and support their school in many other ways as well.

The Brentwood Academy Cheerleaders have been training right along with the football players this summer, preparing for the 2010 season. Blaire Perdue is captain of the 2010 squad, with Stormy Rains as co-captain.

“We have been working so hard all summer in preparing ourselves for the upcoming school year,” new Upper School Cheerleading Coach Erick Kristianson said. The squad attended the National Cheerleading Association's (NCA) camp held at Vanderbilt University, were it received numerous awards.

Seventeen squad members were nominated for All American – the most from any one school attending the camp. “The All American Nomination is given to girls who have superior skills in one of five categories -- jumps, motions, dance, stunting and leadership,” Kristianson explained. “After the girls tried out for the All American Team, 10 had made the team.

BA’s cheerleaders also brought home the Herkie Award plaque. The Herkie Award is presented to a school for exemplifying the qualities of leadership, values, teamwork and sportsmanship, which are an integral part of cheerleading and are the ideals on which NCA was founded.
